Will Santa Put a New Stadium in The Panthers’ Stocking?

Poor Mall Santa Can’t Take a Break in Charlotte
He’s not the real Santa, kids. He’s just one of Santa’s part-time helpers trying to help good little boys and girls feel heard this holiday season. Apparently, there are a lot of wishes adults in Charlotte have for themselves and for the Queen City this year. And, according to the surveillance footage we found, they won’t even leave this poor mall Santa alone on his coffee break. Ho … Ho … Holy Cow! Watch now.

Matt Olin, Tim Miner & Joni Deutsch hang out in the basement … er, future retail space … of Blackhawk Hardware.
The “Best Hair in Radio” Shares Her Silence at CreativeMornings/Charlotte
To celebrate the 50th consecutive gathering of CreativeMornings/Charlotte, you’d better have a big voice giving the keynote talk … especially when the global theme of the month is “Silence.” That’s why the Charlotte chapter turned to the QC’s “Music Maven” — Joni Deutsch of WFAE. After the event, hosts Matt Olin and Tim Miner sat down to talk to Joni about her native West Virginia, her lifelong love of music and her thoughts about the future of the creative community in Charlotte. Listen now.

If you’ve ever seen someone wheeling a gold glitter rolling case around the Queen City, chances are it was Jenny Melick. What’s in the case, you ask? Only high-quality products made by high-quality people right here in Charlotte.
Earlier this year, Jenny and her husband Cory decided to use their chemistry backgrounds to create a line of non-toxic personal care products made with natural ingredients (and a dash of positivity) – thus their company, Roses and Azalea, was born! You can find their organic deodorants, dry shampoos, face serums and allergy relief balms at pop-up markets & stores across the Queen City, or online here.
Fun Fact: For every online order, Roses and Azalea donates one of their non-toxic products to a child in need to further their mission of nourishing and healing the bodies of as many people as possible.
Jenny took a short break from creating her latest and greatest products to answer 5 Ridiculous Questions…
So, which one IS your favorite? Roses … or azaleas?
Uh, ROSES … I’m obsessed with rose water and its healing powers. (Shhh, don’t tell Azalea, it’ll hurt her feelings!)
What’s the funniest question a customer has ever asked you about your products?
Is your deodorant actually edible? (WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO EAT OUR DEODORANTS?) Or, do you have a gallon option of your face serum so I can pour it all over myself? (Agreed, our face serum is THAT awesome!)
The Queen Charlotte statue at the airport looks like she’s falling over. What do you think knocked her over?
Merging traffic. That and her toll bills.
If you had to pick one, which breakfast cereal mascot would you go on a date with?
Cap’n Crunch. ‘Cause he is just an eye patch away from being a pirate. And, pirates are sexy!
You’re an expert on aromas. What name would you give a deodorant that smells like the Epicenter at 2am?
CLOSING TIME – Smells like booze, bar food, rejection, sweat and fun from dancin’ and tacos – all infused with moon essence, wolf hair and a tickle of laughter.

As reported by Chandler Morgan on WBTV, Elysium Ink Tattoo Shop in Concord hosted a “Tats for Tots” event to benefit the patients of Levine Children’s Hospital on Dec. 7. Customers dropped off toys and the parlor donated a portion of proceeds raised from tattoos and piercings at the event to purchase Build-A-Bear Kits for children. We caught up with our hand-selected panel of fabricated Charlatans who definitely did not get fresh ink for kids last Saturday.

Honesty time here. It’s pretty much been a “Nightmare Before Christmas” back half of the Carolina Panthers’ season. After an ugly Sunday with the Atlanta “Dirty Birds,” we’re really hoping not to get “Scrooged” by the Seattle Seahawks. In fact, Ebenezer Scrooge is exactly the inspiration Charlotte artist, Brett Toukatly, used as inspiration for the nasty Seahawk below. It may look dark, but we’re still holding out hope that the Cats can fill the Hawk’s stockings with lumps of coal before sending them skulking back to the Pacific Northwest. After all, we’re Charlotte. And, we #KeepPounding.

Baby Yoda? More like Baby NoDa! The force is strong with this fresh mural of everyone’s favorite frog-eating, turtleneck-wearing alien. Mural bounty hunters will find their way straight to NoDa Market & Deli, where Baby Yoda has set up shop. We haven’t seen the Mandalorian around, but chances are he’s nearby, ready to protect the Child. If you’ve got Baby Yoda fever like the rest of us, then Alex DeLarge’s latest mural is a must-visit. While you’re there grab some tasty grub from the deli and take a walk around the building to check out even more stellar murals by other Charlotte artists. This is the way and we have spoken.
