Visions of the Not Normal: Will Jenkins
by Tim Miner on May 1, 2020
These are truly extraordinary times that will have an indelible impact on the future direction of Charlotte and the world. It is important to capture the images of what all corners of the Queen City are experiencing during the COVID-19 outbreak for today and for posterity.
The Biscuit and The Charlotte Ledger (an online business publication established by seasoned journalist Tony Mecia) have partnered up to present our new photo series, “Visions of the Not Normal” — offering views of neighborhoods and communities across the city through the eyes (and lenses) of local photographers.
This week, photographer Will Jenkins, AKA Simplisticphobia, one of the founders of BLKMRKTCLT shares a few glimpses of what he’s seen as he traveled through Charlotte in April 2020. Of the photo above, Will says:
“I came home to my neighbors having a social distancing conversation. The family stood at the door while the other neighbor stood on the sidewalk with his mask on.”
Next week will feature a different photographer and a different part of the Queen City. If you know of a photographer who would be interested in sharing images from their community in this time, please let us know.
