2020 Resolutions from CLT Creatives
- /
We’re tired of the same ol’ same ol’ resolutions. And, frankly, we are experiencing some writer’s block when it comes to determining our own 2020 resolutions here at The Biscuit. So, we put out the call for ideas to some of our favorite Queen City creatives. And, here’s what we got back.
“Mucha candela en 2020 por qué Charlotte es creativo.”
Share stories of the Latin creative community in Charlotte and grow by lifting others!

“My New Year’s creative resolution is to make every event I host, live show I do, interaction with people and vibe I bring OHMAZING. Expanding the culture behind all things #Ohmazing and influencing through positive, inspiring and dope content. Boom! *milly rock*”

“I’m resolving to work more collaboratively with the Next Stage team, leveraging their tremendous skills and passion for social good in Charlotte to help shape the community we all want to see. I am so fortunate to have some the best and brightest people in Charlotte willing to partner with me on this social entrepreneurship platform we’ve created. I want 2020 to be the year we (you know it is coming)… get to our own next stage.”

“A new Second Edition of my history book Sorting Out the New South City: Race, Class and Urban Development in Charlotte (UNC Press) about how Charlotte grew to be a big city — and how it became segregated both racially and economically. Look for a book launch event at Levine Museum of the New South on March 18.”
Tom Hanchett
History South
“I want to start writing some fiction short stories. Whether they are good or bad, it’d be nice to get my thoughts on paper. I also want to learn how to use Photoshop … with step one being actually getting Photoshop haha. I’d also like to get better with using my camera. My iPhone has carried me this far but it’s time to learn the DSLR.”
Porter Metzler
The Biscuit
“In 2020, I plan to re-emerge. Towards the end of 2019, I took a step back from storytelling through People of Charlotte. There’s a story to be told around that, but in the meantime, I’d like to fire up the Q&A again to help facilitate a stronger connection amongst Charlotteans.”
Mai Lis Bahr
People of Charlotte
“My creative resolution for 2020 is to continue expanding the community’s knowledge of the growing art scene in CLT and to begin curating walls make room for more street art and murals!”

“For 2020, I continue on the resolve I’ve had from several years – create more space in my mind to learn, explore, and experience the world around me.”

“My (personal) creative New Year’s Resolution is to explore a new Charlotte perspective each week. Whether it’s a story, a podcast, a song… I want to see and hear as much as possible. As for my (professional) creative NYR, I can’t wait to see the launch of WFAE’s new “Inside Politics” podcast (wfae.org/insidepolitics) on January 23.”

“In 2020, we are going to try one new restaurant every week and venture out of our comfort zone. Maybe even make it to Ballantyne (haha — we live in NoDa)! For us, that’s very creative. Get to explore parts of our beautiful city we might not have otherwise and support establishments that support us (that’s the only requirement). Excited for 52 new places.”
