To call Charlottean Alyssa Pressler a “logophile” (lover of words) is a colossal understatement. It just isn’t a big enough word to convey how Alyssa feels about the written word. Come to think of it, there may not actually be a word gargantuan enough to adequately express how much Alyssa loves words. But, if there WERE such a word, we’re betting Alyssa would know it … and love it.
Alyssa is a writer and and editor. She puts her literary talents to work every day as director of marketing at Hygge. In our experience, it’s odd to find Alyssa not hard at work writing. But, when you do, you can expect a big smile directed at you — maybe not as big as you’ll see when she’s typing away on her laptop, but still pretty big.
Now, as the owner of That’s Novel Books, which just opened next to Hygge at Camp North End, she gets to share her love of words with customers every day.
This week, we asked her to spare us a few words and answer five ridiculous questions for us.
And, Alyssa did not disappoint.
Where’s the best place in CLT (not your home) to snuggle up and read a good book?
My bookstore – duh 😉
If you had to eat one breakfast cereal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Cinnamon Toast Crunch. But eggs and toast is where it’s at.
If you could co-work at Hygge with ANY THREE literary characters, who would they be?
Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Easy.
What’s the weirdest pronunciation for Hygge you’ve heard from someone in CLT?
Probably what I kept calling it before I became a member: Hig (like rig) -ee
You’re a writer, which typo (hopefully, not one here) drive you ABSOLUTELY bonkers?
Lately, I keep mixing up “here” and “hear” and it’s extremely frustrating as a snobby writer.
And, TWO to grow on:
When you need to power through a day of work, what Charlotte treat gets you going again?
A latte from Enderly Coffee.
Who should we interview next?
There are SO many cool people in Charlotte! Alyssa Sharpe with Digi-Bridge. Quin Gwinn with Quin Gwinn Studios. Brian Mister with Around the Crown. Aaron Dodge with the Hornets, Littlefield Co. and about a million other jobs. I think they’d all be great!
