73 Steps to Greatness

The best way to get the blood flowing to your creative brain on a Friday morning is by taking four flights of stairs … right? RIGHT?
Boasting a rock star lineup of city council members Braxton Winston, Dimple Ajmera, Tariq Bokhari and Larken Eagletson, the February 1 meeting of CreativeMornings/Charlotte was held on the top floor of the LakePointe 3 office space thanks to a generous donation of space from Trinity Parnters.
Still, it takes a lot to efficiently usher 500+ creatives to their morning coffee on the fourth floor. The group needed to motivate attendees to take the stairs. And, that presented an opportunity.
There are few in Charlotte as good at inspiring movement as the team at OrthoCarolina, who decided this was an ideal opportunity to promote healthly living and help out a local non-profit at the same time.
Charlotte Is Creative and OrthoCarolina donated four cents for every stair climbed to Hospitality House of Charlotte, a non-profit offering affordable accommodations to the families of seriously ill loved ones visiting our medical community. With 326 guests monthly, Hospitality House allows these caring family members to get some sleep and wake up rested to best serve their family.
OrthoCarolina and Hospitality House staff were on site to cheer everyone on at each landing as they climbed all four flights of stairs. At the end of the morning, the two organizations presented a check for $867.24 to Hospitality House. That’s over 2,000 stairs climbed by early morning participants.
Inspired to keep moving and doing more good? No sweat. (Okay, okay … you’ll sweat.)
