Last week, we joined other Charlotte organizations in posting a sign-up link for the CLT Unity Letter, standing against letters of violence and racism that were recently sent to Queen City leaders of color. It was inspiring to see an ad placed featuring the names of over 3,725 individuals who chose to sign along with us. Click here to see a list of those who signed the letter.

The news broke last week that the iconic Dairy Queen on Central Avenue will close its doors at the end of October. The location has been in business since the 1950s and operated by the same family since the 1970s. Owners say they’d like to stay open. but they weren’t able to reach a lease agreement with their landlords. The walk-up soft serve shop has stayed a staple of the Plaza Midwood community for decades and many people are upset to see it go. Over the weekend, we reached out to a few stock images to ask what they thought about it all.

The Queen City creatives are constantly generating innovative initiatives to help each other. Here are two ways you can give … or get … help from our hometown creative community this week. Your Mission (Should You Choose to Accept It) May be Worth $10,000This Friday (Sept. 13), our friends at Apparo, along with Accenture, are launching an award program to help Charlotte nonprofits in need of innovative tech solutions. Click here to get a ticket to the kick-off information event from 9:00-11:00am. Share Your Hurricane Dorian Efforts with SHARE CharlotteMany local organizations are working to help our neighbors on the Carolina coast, the Bahamas and beyond. But, communicating all of that can be a challenge. If your nonprofit is preparing a Hurricane Dorian response, please contact Caroline Miller of SHARE Charlotte at caroline@sharecharlotte.org with the details.
