PAID ART OPPORTUNITIES:
South End Blooms – Mid-May through June
Charlotte is Creative is working with South End to pair creatives with South End businesses for weekend pop-up activations (which we’re calling “Blooms”) May 15 through June 20.
Blooms might be: performing live music or dance, playing host to an interactive (COVID-safe) activity or creating art for temporary or permanent installation. The exact date and location for each Bloom will be mutually determined by Charlotte Is Creative, you, and the South End business that will be hosting you. We will work with you to establish a mutually-agreeable fee.
APPLY (Deadline: May 6)
If you are interested in being a part of South End Blooms, please complete this form by 8 p.m. on May 6. You will be notified if you are selected by May 9.

PAID ART OPPORTUNITIES:
“Made in CLT” at Charlotte SHOUT! – Sept. 17 to Oct. 3
Charlotte SHOUT! Is returning to Uptown from September 17 – October 3. The event is sponsored and managed by Blumenthal Performing Arts & Charlotte Center City Partners. Event organizers are looking for local musicians, performing artists, visual artists, tech creatives, photographers, culinary artists, thought leaders and more. You can apply to be a small performer, a vendor or pitch a much larger event or installation. Click here to watch an information session that explains more about SHOUT!
If you have a big idea you’ve been wanting to try or an existing fall event you’re working on, here is a chance to show Charlotte who you are and get paid to do it. Center City and Blumenthal Performing Arts have invited creatives to think big and submit bold ideas.

WORKSHOPS & COMPETITION:
“Of Earth and Sky” Poetry Workshops and Art Installation
Calling all poets! Of Earth and Sky — a collection of visual art installations based on poems submitted by Charlotte writers — will be part of Charlotte SHOUT! this fall. That’s right. Your words may be turned into a work of visual art, if your work is selected.
While no training is required to submit a work for consideration, the public is invited to sharpen your poetry skills by attending a workshop at Middleton McMillan Gallery at Spirit Square hosted by:
- Boris “Bluz” Rogers, Emmy award-winning poet
- Jay Ward, National Poetry Slam champion
- Jordan Bailey, National Poetry Slam champion
The workshops are held at noon each Saturday in April and May. These sessions will offer more information on Of Earth and Sky’s vision and prompts that may inspire your winning entry.

ART COMPETITION:
“The Journey” by International House
As part of its 40th anniversary, International House has issued a call to immigrant artists to submit work to be considered for The Journey: Art Competition and Exhibit. The work should symbolize their journey to the United States with insight into the artist’s story and challenges.
Applications are open now through June 4. Charlotte Art League will play host to the live and virtual exhibition on June 14. Ten artists will be selected by a community committee to show their work at the Charlotte Art League. Once the art is installed, the public will have a chance to vote on their favorite piece by donating to International House.
APPLY (Deadline: June 7)
The winning artist gets a $4,000 stipend and their work displayed at International House. For more information and to apply, click here.
