Charlottean Jamie Decker’s got brains … and she’ll let you hold them in your hand. In fact, she wants you to. After being inspired by the traveling Body Worlds exhibit visiting Discovery Place in 2007, Jamie tracked down the creator of the plastination technique used to preserve the organs and bodies displayed, Dr. Gunther von Hagens. She impressed him so much, he invited her to train under him in Germany and is, today, the only person living in the US who has. Charlottean Jamie Decker knows you … inside and out. And, it’s her mission that you know what she knows. Jamie is the founder of Charlotte-based, Experience Anatomy. Her company preserves human organs through the process of plastination created by Dr. Gunther von Hagens. She was inspired to learn from Dr. von Hagens after his Body Worlds exhibition visited Discovery Place science museum in 2007. This experience was exhilarating for her. She discovered that Dr. Von Hagens was speaking at a conference a short time later and drove there to meet him. Jamie impressed Dr. von Hagens so much, he invited her to study under his direction (and on scholarship) at his Gubener Plastinate GmbH in Germany. Today, Jamie remains the only American who has extensively trained under von Hagens. And, she’s brought her knowledge home to Charlotte, founding Experience Anatomy.
