  3. Sizzling Hot Fashion Looks for the Fourth ... in 1919

All signs point to the Fourth of July being a hot (and rainy) one this year. And, with Fourth parties aplenty to attend, we all want to look good and be comfortable.

If you’re like us, when you think about staying cool on a 94-degree day … you think about wearing a suit. No, not a bathing suit. A suit-suit-suit. You know — jacket, pants and ties. That’s the way to stand out and beat the heat, right?

We popped back to The Charlotte News issue circulating 100 years ago — July 2, 1919 — to figure out what to wear to the neighborhood pool party and our bestie’s backyard barbecue. Wear one of these numbers and we’re pretty sure YOU’LL be the fireworks. (Or, it’ll just feel like that under your clothes. Wear deodorant, please.)

Take a gander through the ad library below. All of them appeared in that July 2 issue. We’ll be honest, we’re pretty tempted to go out an buy a “canning outfit.” How about you?
