The Queen City is so alive with creatives doing incredible work, sometimes you don’t know exactly where to look. That’s where we come in. Each week in The Biscuit, we’ll highlight four Instagram accounts related to Charlotte creatives that deserve your attention … and your follow.

With Charlotte SHOUT! taking over the city this week, we’ve picked four local creatives you can enjoy online (and in person) this weekend.

Talking Walls

If you read The Biscuit, you know we have a particular love for murals and street art. Between the murals going in at End-To-End at Camp North End and the murals underway Uptown by Talking Walls, there’s no shortage of opportunity to watch majestic murals in process during SHOUT! (and, you know, all year long).

MacFly Fresh

If you haven’t seen MacFly Fresh screen printing in action at a Charlotte festival, yet … seek them out at SHOUT! You’re in for a treat. This labor of love started in a garage with family and friends and has been filling the Queen City with groovy designs and lots of laughs & good will for almost 15 years.

AboutFaceCLT

Do you know your fellow Charlotteans? Do we really stop and take the time to look at each other? AboutFace CLT, led by Scott Gardner, uses installations of beautiful black and white portraiture to bring awareness to social issues, elevating compassion and providing pathways for engagement. On Friday, they will wrap the exterior of the Main Library Uptown in portraits of youth from across Charlotte for a SHOUT! project called “The Future Is Now.”

City Walks

Charlotte is a town begging for exploration. The UNC-Charlotte Urban Institute believes there’s no substitute for getting out of our cars and walking the sidewalks of Charlotte to truly experience the sights, sounds, character and people that reside in historic communities all over the Queen City. You can follow their adventures online or you can join a walk, like the ones they’ll be conducting during SHOUT!
