  3. FOUR TO FOLLOW: Fo' from Cole Monroe

Charlotte is home to thousands of Instagram accounts from Charlotte creatives sharing their work and their thoughts about the Queen City community. Each week, one of our guest experts will share four local Instagram accounts they think are worth your follows and likes — accounts they feel offer a compassionate, funny, inspiring or insightful eye on Charlotte.

This week, we’re getting four picks from our friend and creative collaborator, Cole Monroe, transgender advocate/speaker and owner of Blue Stag Creative. We’ll warn you in advance: there’s a little touch of nepotism at the bottom, but it’s tinted with love and respect and utter admiration … so we’ll allow it! (Plus, we’re all for helping you get out of chores.)

Now, let’s dive into four of Cole’s faves.

Transcend Charlotte – @TranscendCharlotte

“I used to be board president for this non-profit organization, so I may be a little biased here, but this organization is doing GREAT things for our city! Not only have they been helping transgender and gender non-conforming adults feel more comfortable in this bi-gendered world, but they’re educating non-transgender communities and creating safe spaces for the LGB(T)Q community, as well.” – Cole Monroe

Crown Chakra Barbering – @crownchakrabarber

“A few years back, I was finally sick of covering my poorly executed haircuts with a hat and found Crown Chakra Barbering by searching “#CharlotteBarber” on Instagram. Owner, Moyeh, is a visual artist and really presents his services in a way that I haven’t seen from other barbers (and I’m kind of an expert on staring at haircuts on Instagram)! He is dedicated to providing a holistic barbering experience with a little touch of good energy for a balanced and peaceful appointment.” – Cole Monroe

Your Custom Catering – @yourc2events

“If anyone loves good food, it’s me! No, you can’t just drop in and buy lunch – but you CAN hire them to cater your next lunch. Somehow, they have been the catering company at about 70% of all events that I’ve been to in Charlotte and I always leave weighing a few pounds more than the last event. Your Custom Catering is on the verge of some big things – give them a follow to hear about it!” – Cole Monroe

Free Range Unicorn – @freerangeunicorn_

“NEPOTISM ALERT: I am marrying this woman! She recently launched a pretty cool business account that gives you a look into her mind. Her warped photoshop skills make for some humorous yet inspiring content to add to your Instagram feed. And, I mean, come on… the name is Free. Range. Unicorn!

PS: If you’re reading this, future wife, does writing about you give me a pass on taking out the garbage next week?” – Cole Monroe
