Interesting Events – Moving Poets, A New (Used) Bookstore, CLT Pride & More
- /
We have a brand new batch of 13 Charlotte events we’re excited about over the next week … especially on the bonus Saturday we have coming up. If you’re like us, you want to take full advantage of the Leap Year and use your extra day doing something fun. And, it seems like the rest of Charlotte agrees too because February 29 is jam-packed with loads to go do.
Between Moving Poets’ new production HEAVEN, the grand opening of a new (used) bookstore, a heritage festival, an art auction, a revolutionary concert and a bike party, Feb. 29, 2020 going to be a day for the books.
If you already have Leap Day plans, don’t worry, there is still plenty to do next week in the world of CLT events. Use the events below as a roadmap to another exciting week in the Queen City!
“A modern fairy tale roller coaster ride”
Moving Poets Presents HEAVEN
February 27 through March 1 at 8pm (7pm on Sunday)
Booth Playhouse
What do you get when you put over 30 visual artists, actors, dancers and musicians on one stage? Sounds like creative heaven to us.
To Moving Poets, the Charlotte and Berlin-based nonprofit arts organization, it literally sounds like HEAVEN. Moving Poets describes their latest production as “a modern fairy tale roller coaster ride – through conflict and harmony, chaos, courage and kindness.”
The show combines contemporary dance, theater, music, film, video-mapping and visual arts to tell the story of Maria-Helena, a detained immigrant child as she navigates her dreams and realities. The audience will also play a special role in the performance as their participation during certain sections may cause events to change in HEAVEN.
With artistic direction provided by multi-disciplinary visual artist MyLoan Dinh and choreographer/director (and husband) Till Schmidt-Rimpler, we can guarantee that each performance of HEAVEN will be beautiful, powerful and holding true to the nonprofit’s namesake, moving.
