SHOUTing! from the Rooftops
- /
Charlotte Musicians,
In collaboration with Charlotte Center City Partners, we are seeking CLT musicians who would like to contribute to a new content series called “SHOUTing from the Rooftops” that we’re featuring in The Biscuit, our media channel about Queen City creatives.
It’s essentially a Neighborhood Performance Series intended to shine a light on prior and forthcoming Charlotte SHOUT! performers, as well as other local creatives. We know it will be a source of creative inspiration and joy for Charlotteans.
Inspired by Italians singing from their windows during the COVID-19 crisis, we’re asking Charlotte performers to capture themselves on video performing a song (vocal, instrumental or both), spoken word, poem, monologue, etc, from an open window, balcony, rooftop, open garage or similar setting at their homes — or from a driveway, sidewalk or even in the street. (Bonus points if you capture your neighbors enjoying your performance or even joining in … from 6 feet away, of course!)
For those selected to participate, we’re able to pay you a $100 honorarium for your performance via PayPal (preferred) or Venmo.
There is one important prerequisite to being selected for this series: You must be able to capture a quality video of your performance — including good lighting, good audio, and using a tripod or some other stabilizer.
If you have a song that you’d like to perform for this series, and you feel confident that you can capture a quality video of your performance, please indicate your interest by hitting the button below and emailing me. Feel free to mention the piece you’d like to perform, as well as provide a link to any previous video that shows your video/audio capture capabilities, if available.
If you’re selected, here’s what we’ll then be asking from you:
- A video of your ” SHOUTing from the Rooftops” performance that’s 3-8 minutes in length (you can send by Dropbox, ZIP or similar hosting/compression tool)
- Your PayPal email, plus whatever cash app link you’d prefer people to tip you through
- A list of your social handles and links (especially to more of your music)
- A photo we can use for as-needed promotion
- 25-35 written words on what you did and why you picked the song you performed
- 25-35 written words of encouragement for Charlotte-area creatives in isolation
Depending on how many of you raise your hand, we may not be able to feature everyone, but our first step is to communicate this opportunity to you and gauge interest.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Matt Olin
