“Who Built Me” with CLT Urban Designer Rachel Stark
By Andy Goh
The great landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted said, “The enjoyment of scenery employs the mind without fatigue, yet exercises it, tranquilizes it yet enlivens it, and thus, through the influence of mind over body, gives the effect of refreshing rest and reinvigorating the whole system.”
Every day, City of Charlotte Senior Urban Designer Rachel Stark looks at our city and works to create Olmsted’s vision. Everything from the structure of public spaces to the Black Lives Matter mural down to the zoning code is fair game for Stark, and her efforts will quite literally shape the city.
Get to know Rachel in today’s episode of “Who Built Me.” Rachel talks about the people who influenced her while at school at NC State, working in Cape Town, South Africa, and what she would pass on to the next generation of landscape architects.
The Who Built Me Series is sponsored by the Foundation For The Carolinas.
