Caroline Calouche & Co. is Spreading the Love
- /
Caroline Calouche & Co. are bringing their aerial talents to a screen near you! Saturday, July 25 marks the aerial and contemporary dance company’s very first virtual performance. But, don’t expect a lesser show just because it’s online. “A Love Show” will bring the same high-quality live performance dance and aerial acts that the company is known for.
“We are experimenting with ideas to make this show engaging for the audience with multiple camera angles and some light audience interaction with our lovely Madame of Ceremonies, Rachael Houdek, from our cabaret show, ‘Rouge’,” says Director Caroline Calouche.
The show will include performances from students at the company’s training program, Charlotte Cirque & Dance Center. The center specializes in teaching dancers of all ages and experience levels a wide variety of dance genres and aerial silks. The students will perform a few dances that were originally planned for their May showcase that never happened due to COVID-19.
The Caroline Calouche & Co. dancers and students will perform live from the Charlotte Cirque & Dance Center’s Studio Theater. And while they’re dancing, the performance will be streamed directly to the audience in the comfort of their own homes via Crowdcast.
“A Love Show” will also have a few guest appearances sprinkled in to round out the performances. Cabaret artist Rachael Houdek and Americana duo Courtney Lynn & Quinn will join as the show’s musical acts. We got a taste of the collaborative power between Caroline Calouche and Courtney Lynn & Quinn back in May when they teamed up to create the short film “Self.” You can watch it here.
Also joining as guests are prolific storytellers and performers Susan Murphy and Andrea Burkholder who will perform an excerpt of their full-length show they created last year titled “The Subject Tonight is Love.”
“A Love Show” plus “The Subject Tonight is Love” sounds exactly like what our world needs more of these days. A little bit of dancing and a whole lot of love.
