Who Will Be Crowned CLT DJ Royalty in 2020?
- /
UPDATED: Tickets to the 2020 DJ Battle sold out by 3PM Friday, Oct. 2.
The CLT DJ Battle cannot be stopped. Last year, it was rained out at Charlotte SHOUT! But, it punched back for a show at Dupp & Swat where Arial Dominquez AKA DOMii claimed the title of the first DJ Battle champion.
This year, with restrictions holding back large live events, the CLT DJ Battle is taking the beat online. After winnowing down an initial group of 22 contestants, five DJs remain standing for a chance to spin it up and throw it down against DOMii herself Saturday, Oct 3 at 7:00.
“Fans can expect more dope DJs they should know call Charlotte ‘home.’ The competition this year is very entertaining, diverse and consists of DJs that were fan picked. Also, much like last year, who will be crowned 2020 champion will be in the hands of the fans as they will vote live October 3rd for their favorite to win the final battle,” said event organizer. Dae Lee (DJ Sir Charles).
The five DJs duking it out for a shot at 2019 champ, Ariel Dominquez (@ariel_domii ) are:
- DJ Rob1Der – @djrob1der
- FIJIBOI DLO – @fijiboidlo
- Dj Do All – @djdoall_336
- DJ Bezzie Beatz – @djbezziebeatz
- DJ Raquest – @djraquest
The clubs have been pretty quiet for the last 6 months, so these DJs are ready to bring their best kung-fu Saturday night. The 2020 CLT DJ Battle is this Saturday, Oct 3 at 7:00 online

Q & A with Organizer, Dae Lee
DOMii is coming back. How will the process work?
DOMii as the 2019 champ will compete in this year’s finals. She will participate in the CLT DJ Cypher along with all the other DJ’s and have to fight her way into the final battle for a possible repeat.

How will the audience interact with the final DJ Battle?
Because of COVID-19, sadly there will not be an in-person event but we will have a live interactive viewing event online via Zoom. We would rather it be in-person, but the circumstances have created the opportunity for us to step into pre-recording the battle and present it for the fans to enjoy live together in a high-quality way online.
In your two years working on this, what have you learned about where we are (and where we’re going) with DJ culture in Charlotte?
Over the last two years, it’s become very evident that there’s a lot of great talent that has gone overlooked and that there is a lot of rising talent. If developed, they could compete on a national level.
How can people support this effort … and CLT DJs in general?
To support CLT DJ Battle, RSVP and attend the battle on October 3rd! I believe the best way to support DJ’s during COVID is by following them online and showing them love by leaving digital tips as most have had to turn to online parties to make it through these times as a DJ.
