We don’t have a New Year’s resolution to share today, but maybe a New Year’s revelation will do:
We are obsessed with Bonitos Hats … periodt.
It started by seeing their hats all over Instagram. Then, we kept seeing Jorge Gonzalez at every holiday market. (Seriously, Jorge, were you cloned or something?)
In all seriousness, we have our eyes firmly on Bonitos Hats and Jorge in the year ahead. We do know this (because Jorge told us himself …) –
A FAMILY BUSINESS
“It is a team effort. It starts at my family’s business in Guanajuato, Mexico. That the hats (some painted and some not) are shipped here to us in Charlotte. We finish painting, embellishing and given a coating to the hats to protect our work. We go to pop-up markets and different art events along the East Coast.”
Charlotte’s fashion scene is deep. And, we’ve barely scratched the surface. But, we’re going to correct that in ’22. If you know of other CLT fashion designers/creatives we should consider, let us know here.
Until then, Bonitos Hats, we doff our caps at you. Your work is insane and we can’t wait to see how you crown the Queen City in the year ahead.
