CREATIVES TO WATCH IN ’22: KATIE WOODS
Creativity doesn’t just happen.
We all love to embrace the myth of the lone artist, striking out on their own and succeeding against all odds all on their lonesome. But, that’s a bad myth. It’s an outmoded archetype.
Collaboration is a key to success. To make it, we need people around us who create the conditions for creativity to thrive – people support us, understand our vision, see problems we can’t see, challenge us, anticipate our needs, pick us up when we’re down and push us forward when we hesitate. They make creativity possible by clearing the path forward.
EMPOWERING OTHERS TO CREATE IS CREATIVE
Enabling creatives to BE creative is a creative act in and of itself. That’s Katie Woods’ superpower. And, she has it in spades.
We’ve experienced Katie’s love, support, tenacity and help many times along the development of our little nonprofit. She had our admiration immediately, but it’s grown exponentially over the years. We’re not alone there.
WE’RE NOT ALONE IN SEEING KATIE’S GIFT …
We had planned to name her one of our “Creatives to Watch in ’22” for weeks, but her teammates at Wray Ward beat us to it, naming her the “2021 Employee of the Year.” Out of a large company of creatives, Katie’s peers picked her. That says everything.
Those who use their creative talents empower other creatives may not get the applause at the end of the show, but no one would even BE there to applaud if they hadn’t given their skills, their hearts and their minds long before the curtain went up.
That’s Katie Woods.
We may have our eyes on Katie in 2022, but we’re hoping she keeps her eyes on us, because she just makes everyone within her considerable gaze better.
