5 Ridiculous Questions with Caylin Haldeman
There are thousands of Charlotte creatives doing innovative and exciting work all around the city. When we can get a moment of their time, we celebrate. And, we ask them silly questions. Today, it’s our pal, Caylin Haldeman, who was just named director of Next Stage’s CULTIVATE program (of which we are are proud alums).
Caylin Haldeman, Director of CULTIVATE at Next Stage
Caylin is responsible for the management of CULTIVATE, Next Stage’s incubator for emerging nonprofits. She will lead the program’s recruitment and selection process, curriculum development, impact measurement, marketing and community engagement efforts. She’ll also partner with the larger Next Stage firm in the development and facilitation of workshops and coaching sessions.
And, now … our 5 Ridiculous Questions.
1) What is the worst selfie spot in Charlotte?
If I see another ‘influencer’ taking a selfie or recording an Instagram story at full-speed around the I-277 loop, I swear…
2) The statue of Queen Charlotte at the airport seems to be falling over. What do you think happened to her?
She, like the rest of us, is beside herself with excitement that we can now hang out at Rhino Market and NoDa Brewing while waiting for our (probably delayed) flights.
3) What is the song you are powerless not to sing along to in the car.
Anything by Lizzo, because she is a walking, singing, rapping affirmation. Yes, I am a millennial.
4) How many cups of coffee do you drink in one day?
Too many. I think it’s time for Charlotte to rebrand as a “coffee city.”
5) Where’s your favorite spot (other than your home) to hide out and get work done in CLT?
Work hours: Enderly Coffee. Best lattes in Charlotte and the place feels like home. After hours: Free Range Brewing. Can’t beat the playlist and the beer doesn’t hurt on a late work night, either.
How can you catch up with Caylin?
We Need Your Vote! The Construction Barrel is Charlotte’s Official Flower
Why do we think the orange construction barrel should be the official flower of Charlotte? Not only are there fields and fields of them blooming on streets criss-crossing every corner the city, but they were also invented here in 1985 by Milton T. Cory of Radiator Specialty. Don’t believe us? Check out the original patent papers right here!
As Alanis Morissette would say… isn’t it ironic? Or, is it just an expression of hometown pride? Let us know either way. Click here to vote up or down on the Orange Construction Barrel as the official Charlotte flower!
WHERE ARE WE IN CLT?
Powered by OrthoCarolina
WHERE ARE WE IN CLT? There are lots of reasons to find your way to Camp North End, but one of our faves is to drop in and check out the new mural by Charlotte artist & UNCC professor, John Hairston, Jr., at Dupp & Swat. Along the way, owners Davita & Dion Galloway will inspire you and welcome you in for a chat. Don’t forget to visit their neighbors, Hex Espresso Bar and BLK MRKT CLT.
