SUNDAY FUNNIES: Start the Week with a Smile
The best way to get ready for next week … is with a laugh. It’s serious out there, y’all. Times ARE tough, but you know us. We believe that laughter is the best medicine and that Charlotte’s creativity culture has an endless number of ways to make us all snicker or smile. Putting #creativityincaptivity just gives rise to even more ingenuity when it comes to comedy. Charlotteans are upping their game on social media. And, we want to share it. So, for now, we’re unveiling the “Sunday Funnies,” sharing social posts and silly stories that give us the giggles and help us forget about what’s going on in the world for a few minutes. We need your help. Throughout the week, as you find videos, memes, stories and more that tickle your funny bone, click the button below and let us know about them. We’ll pop the best of them into next week’s “Sunday Funnies.” Until then, stay calm and create on. Tim Miner & Matt Olin Charlotte Is Creative

That Time Matt Olin Interviewed the Governor
A few years ago, Charlotte Is Creative co-founder and co-publisher of The Biscuit, Matt Olin, was lucky enough to interview North Carolina Governor, Roy Cooper. In these trying times, we’ve reached out to see if Matt can do so again. The good news is, we think we’re close to a plan to do so under current social distancing/stay-at-home restrictions. The bad news is, it’ll cost about $600 Billion to conduct the interview on the moon. We’ll be setting up a GoFundMe page very soon.
Speaking of the Governor, we have to say … his Twitter game is on the up, as evidenced below.
CONSPIRACY ALERT! What’s the REAL reason for Stay-At-Home?
We have a terrible suspicion we’re being lied to about the real reason why Charlotte authorities want us to stay at home. We’ve received this traffic cam footage of I-277 at morning rush hour Friday. What’s next?! Dogs and cats living together?! Mass hysteria?! Can the Ghostbusters hurry up and seal this virus into the netherworld so we can go back outside?!
New Sanitation Solution Proposed for Uptown
We are still awaiting confirmation of Charlotte leaders’ newest plans to rid Uptown of Covid-19. Really Hoping their Purell order doesn’t bump ours on Amazon Prime.

Gabby Moore Says Prepare … for a World Without Cosmetics
Charlotte comedian Gabby Moore shared an important public service announcement this week. It’s of vital importance that we all prepare … prepare to see the women in our lives as they really are … without make-up, nail treatments, salons and more. Click the image or watch it here.
The Anti-Septic Sounds of David Boraks
WFAE’s own David Boraks wants you to know he’s practicing responsible … and non-communicable … journalism.
The Only Online Exercise Video You’ll Ever Need
Just two weeks into social distancing and the internet is exploding with exercise videos. But, where to start. The folks at Wilmington’s Shutterblade Films have clearly succumbed to cabin fever, making a series of hilarious exercise vids like the one above. Prepare for extreme pointing! Our index fingers are gonna’ be RIPPED!
“To Watch or Not to Watch”
To make sure we all have our daily dose of culture, Comedy Arts Theatre of Charlotte founder and artistic director, Kevin Shimko, has put his own spin on Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” by reading it in a variety of voices, including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Jerry Seinfeld and Katharine Hepburn. Watch the video.
Just How Far IS 6 Feet?
We’ve all been told to stay 6 ft. away from each other. But, just HOW far is that? The ever-helpful Instagram account @TheTrolleyWalk has worked up a handy dandy visual aid.
Current Mood …
Since the invention of handwashing nine days ago, many people are still very confused about how to do it. Thankfully, Instagrammer @neoncloth has created WashYourLyrics.com, allowing each of us to create a handy (pun intended) instructional guide set to the lyrics of our choice. So, of course, we chose the wise words of Mr. M.C. Hammer.

Our Canine Co-Workers Have Been Pooping Everywhere
Now that the Stay-At-Home order is in action in Mecklenburg County, a lot of us in Charlotte have transitioned into working remotely from home. We still get to see our co-workers via Zoom or Google Hangout, talk on the phone and chat it up in our group messages. (Carol, PLEASE stop sending Minion memes). But, working from home means we get a whole gang of new co-workers. Spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends, children, and pets. We’ve all got to learn how to work together in the same space and some are adjusting better than others. It turns out our fuzzy co-workers can be quite a handful. So, we took to Instagram and Facebook to ask what your canine (and feline) co-workers were up to… and we got some AMAZING answers! EXAMPLE: “My co-worker just threw up on the floor and calmly walked away. No, I’m not referring to Tim.” – Matt Olin
We’re All in This … to Watch Tiger King
“We’re all in this together” seems to be the statement of the month. It may have started about COVID-19, but it also applies to the fact that 98% of the Charlotte population seems infatuated with Tiger King on Netflix. And, it’s fueling lots of creative silliness, like the post from Glory Days Apparel above, or …
This hilarious t-shirt unveiled by Dammit Wesley. Perhaps, Joe should be freed, but we’d like to get out first.
Who Needs Lassie?
Dogs are man’s (and women’s) best friends … especially when they’re ready to help you fight pollen and allergies by fetching your Kleenex and Zyrtec on command. Watch this beautiful Aussie in action.
Remember When You Used to Hate Conference Calls?
Conference calls used to be the bane of our existence. Now, we long for the days when we could multi-task on the call and look like trash on the other end … and no one was the wiser. Now, in the world of video calls, if you’re not at your best … they got ya’.

Speaking of Zoom … Two weeks ago, we’d never heard of it. Now we use it every day. The video conferencing software has become a huge part of people’s work lives as they are forced to work remotely from home due to COVID-19. Anyone else wish they had bought Zoom stock at the beginning of March? It feels like the only safe bet these days. While pursuing the Inter-webs, we stumbled across a HuffPost article with “12 Game-Changing Zoom Hacks For Work Meetings And Virtual Happy Hours.” So, we decided to ask some of our favorite stock-image Charlotteans how they’ll be using the latest video call technology.

Faux Five #6: The Forrest Gump
We’re well into stay-at-home now. We’re getting a little loopy already and need to see other people. But, when we see them, how shall we greet them to show them exactly HOW excited we are to see them. Well, we can’t sit next to them on a park bench sharing chocolates like Forrest Gump … but we can wave at them with a giant smile and tons of gusto that absolutely says, “Hey!” Got a “Faux Five” to recommend?
