We don’t really need to tell you to keep your eyes on Priya Sircar because, if the future of arts and culture in Charlotte is important you, you’re already watching.
As the City of Charlotte’s first-ever Arts and Culture Officer, Priya’s leading the charge to distribute more than $30 million of the $41 million raised for the Infusion Fund with the aid of the newly-formed Arts & Culture Board.
More importantly, she’s responsible for spearheading a comprehensive plan that will guide the development of Charlotte’s arts and cultural community far into the future, incorporating legacy institutions, as well as emerging creatives and everyone in between.
That’s a lot of work. But, it’s work well worth doing.
It’s not easy for all eyes to be on you, but Priya’s more than up to the task. To top it all off, Priya’s just a really nice person who’s here to help.
A FUNDER WHO’S BEEN FUNDED BEFORE
Priya may have come to Charlotte after working with the Knight Foundation to fund the arts, but she’s also an artist herself. Before she GAVE grants, she APPLIED for them and grappled with the allocation of resources in the pursuit of a creative goal like so many of us do. In our book, there’s a lot of magic in a grantor who has also been a grantee.
SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY … ACTIVATE!
So, yeah, we think you should watch Priya Sircar in 2022. But, don’t just watch. Be active. Keep doing what you’re doing to strengthen our creative community. And, when you see her, extend her some Southern Hospitality. (The REAL kind, guys. Not the “Bless Her Heart” kind.)
