Scroll through TuxedoKat Imaginarium’s Instagram profile. Once you have, you’ll get a glimpse into the magical world of forward-thinking creative and glass artist extraordinaire Katlyn “Kat” Cornelius.
TuxedoKat said she’s a full-time artist dedicating her time and energy to turning heads and leaving impressions. “My work embodies my values of organic originality through uninhibited play and steadfast risk-taking,” TuxedoKat said.
She’s been perfecting her glass art process since 2008, repurposing broken glass to create original, imaginative works of art.
BUILDING MOMENTUM
An advocate for public art, TuxedoKat placed her first illuminated glass sculpture in historic downtown Concord in February 2021 to garner support for public art in the community. Four months later, she unveiled her “Meta” sculpture in the same community. The vibrant pair of 9-foot pillars is made with glass cast in resin to create a gradient, rainbow-colored glow. TuxedoKat hopes her sculptures continue to stoke conversations about welcoming more public art in Concord.
BREAKING THE MOLD
TuxedoKat says she wants to be a leader in interactive public art made from unconventional objects and processes to promote play in an artist’s journey to discovering their style: “I want to rise above the ‘perfection’ of creativity by trying, failing and trying again.”
